- Apple is reportedly preparing a great health app — renewal for iOS 19
- It will contain a new health coach -function
- A new rumor says it will be driven by AI and can repeat a real doctor ‘at least to some degree’
Following reports that Apple is planning a major revision of its health app in iOS 19, fresh and more detailed information has revealed that it may have an AI agent that would act as a virtual doctor.
Earlier this year, Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman reported that Apple “is planning a renewed health app as well as an AI-based coaching service.”
Now the same source says Apple is working on a health coach that can repeat your doctor.
In his latest power on the newsletter, Gurman notes that some of the company’s major health plans – especially blood sugar surveillance – are still a way away. As such, he says Apple has approached something that could arrive a lot before.
“The initiative is called Project Mulberry, and it involves a completely renewed health app plus a health coach,” he writes. Most notable, Gurman says, “The service would be driven by a new AI agent who would repeat – at least to some extent – a real doctor.”
Apple’s AI doctor
According to Gurman’s report, we can expect this major health study “Already in iOS 19.4”. Unfortunately, this means that it is unlikely to be on the best iPhones until next year.
Gurman says the health app will collect data from your iPhone, Apple Watch, earplugs (such as future airpods with heart rate monitoring) and other third -party products.
Then the AI coach will “use this information to offer tailor-made recommendations on ways to improve health.”
Apple reportedly trains its AI Agent with data from doctors working at Apple and the company wants to bring other doctors with expertise in sleep, nutrition, mental health and more. Gurman says Apple will create videos that can serve as explanatory about certain conditions, along with pointers to make lifestyle improvements.
The videos are filmed at a facility in Oakland, California, according to the report, and Apple is also trying to find a greater medical personality to act as a number of kinds for the new service, which some in Apple has so far called ‘Health+.’ “
Another large part of the app will be food tracking, with Apple taking on the best fitness apps like MyFitnessPal. With Apple Watch integration a security, some of these health upgrades are likely to find their way into Watchos 12.
Gurman says the app is the highest priority for Apple’s health team, and it can even lean on data from cameras on devices in the future.
While a renewal of the Apple Health app is an exciting view, it is one that will probably not come in time for the iPhone 17 in September, although it is possible that some features could debut earlier, with the AI-driven agent after later on the line.
With Apple that delays other Apple Intelligence features like its Big Siri upgrade, the company needs a big AI victory and fast. Is an AI-driven doctor answered?
