WNBA player Angel Reese may not have helped her to negotiate leverage much with a viral low -lit Monday.
During an unmatched game, Reese missed three straight shots while standing just below the basket, and one of the shots hit the lower edge of the back plate.
Reese was at least able to get away with two offensive rebounds in possession, but fell to the hardwood after missing his third shot.
Recordings of the sequence spread rapidly across social media, and many spotted the time of it after Reese ignited controversy with the recent claims that WNBA players can refuse to play games to negotiate higher wages.

Reese and Colleague WNBA player Dijonai Carrington addressed the next WNBA -collective negotiation agreement under Reese’s Podcast Friday.
“I have to get into the meetings because I hear as, ‘if you don’t give us what we want, we’re sitting out,'” Reese said.
“Wnba Don’t pay my bills at all. I don’t even think it pays one of my bills. Literally.”
The Sports Comedy X account “Hater Report” then released a video of Reese missing the captions of the caption, “Angel Reese deserves more money. Pay her please.”
Other users entered the parade with sarcastic comments.

“Give her the maximum,” a user wrote.
Another user joke, “Give this girl an elevation before she decides to sit out next season.”
Some critics were less sarcastic and more directly hard.
“We had to pay her for not to play, so let’s not see this (as if someone is seeing this),” a user wrote.
Another critic wrote, “Pay her less. Stop running your yapping mouth.”
In November, Reese went out of his way of responding to a user with less than 300 followers on X after he mocked her for missing layups and mentioned her 39% shooting percentage.

“Do you realize that I was prepared seventh in my class while ‘missing layups’ as a rookie shooting 39% in the year and was still an all-star and it was the worst thing you ever want to see me?” Reese wrote. “Or have you just laid up with your dog at home and hated Adam?”
Reese’s shooting ability was not considered a strength in her game as she entered WNBA after her championship school career at LSU. On 6 feet, 3 inches tall, Reese was considered a leading defender and rebounder. She lived up to this reputation as a rookie and proven doubters of her shooting ability.
She average 13.1 rebounds per Match in 2024 and became the first player in the WNBA story with three consecutive matches with 20-Plus rebounds. Reese broke the WNBA single-season assistant record on September 1st. However, season ending wrist surgery a few weeks later prevented her from keeping the record. Possibly MVP a’ja Wilson broke the record 11 September.
Reese shot 39% from the field, only 18.8% from the range of 3-point and only 73.6% on the free throwing line. She missed layups several times in her first year.
Reese signed a four-year, $ 324,383 rookie contract ahead of her first WNBA season in 2024. She earned less than $ 75,000 in her first year and will do less than that in 2025.

In October, Reese revealed that she could not afford to pay her bills based on this salary in an Instagram Live video.
“I live beyond my funds. Hate paying them bills, baby. I just hope you know that wnba won’t pay my bills at all,” she said. “I don’t even think it pays one of my bills. Literally I try to think of my rent for where I live at. Let me do the math really quickly. I don’t even know my (wnba) salary, $ 74,000? “
Reese said she pays $ 8,000 for rent.
“Babe, if you thought … that wnba check won’t pay anything,” she added. “Did it even pay that my car note? … I wouldn’t even be able to eat a sandwich with it. I wouldn’t even be able to eat. I wouldn’t be able to live.”
Wnba Players Union chose its current collective negotiation agreement in October, two years before its expiry.
The current CBA will still cover the 2025 season, so the two sides have a year to negotiate a new deal.
