Both Angel Reese and Caitlin Clark had college home that last weekend, but crowd seemed to be very different.
Reese, now a member of the Chicago Sky, played at her Alma Mater LSU on Friday in an exhibition against the Brazilian national team, and there were several empty seats stained.
Meanwhile, Clark’s return to Iowa, also against Brazil, was sold out in less than an hour. Clark and her Indiana Fever played at Arena 2024 first total choice called home in four years. This is where she became a household name in the middle of a record-breaking college career.

Despite both players saying that there is no rivalry between them in the midst of lots of and off-Court drama, Reeese’s mother still managed to take a shot at a “specific fanbase.”
The Reese’s Tigers, of course, defeated Iowa in the 2023 National Championship, and the unofficial Reese-Clark rivaling began after Reese Taunted Clark in the final seconds of LSU’s victory. Reeses Mother, Angel Webb Reese, recalled Clark fans that day after their return competition.
“Aww the certain fanbase looking at the stands celebrating ‘Participation’ while others look up into the barriers celebrating championship banners,” webb Reese wrote in an X post. “We’re not the same. Different years have the same haters a nice day.”

The comment continues what has been much discussed among women’s basketball players and fans. Last year, Reese claimed that both fever and Iowa fans had been racist towards black WNBA players.
However, Clark did his best to stay quiet in the middle of the cultural wars.
“It’s not something I can control. I haven’t thought too much and time thinking about similar things. To be honest, I don’t see much of it,” Clark said last summer. “As I’ve said, basketball is my job. Everything on the outside. I can’t control it, so I won’t spend time thinking about it. People can talk about what they want to talk about, create conversations about what it is, but I think for myself, I’m just here to play basketball.
“I’m here to have fun. I’m here to help my team win. We’ve won three games, feeling we’ve been able to win a few more than that. My focus is on helping us do it. I’m not very aware of all that, to be honest.”
