- Users report more problems with Google Smart Home Gadgets
- Commands do not work or be responded slowly to
- Most Google Home and Nest -Devices have not had updates for years
Have you checked in on your Google Home devices recently? It seems that Google Home and Google Nest Gadgets are gradually becoming less reliable and more buggy, and many users are venting their frustrations by Google apparently left the ecosystem.
A long -lasting Reddit wire describes a long list of problems highlighted by an article on Android Authority -an article that in itself has dozens of comments that regret how unreliable Google Smart Home devices have become.
The problems stated include commands that do not work, automations and routines that break, audio and video streams that are not available, and devices go offline, do not talk to each other or are very slow to answer – it is not a beautiful picture.
A user’s complaint that “I can only make it work without some kind of mistake 25% of the time these days” are typical, and many of the people who log complaining say they plan to switch to different products in the absence of any response from Google.
Where are the new devices?
Enshittification of Google Home from R/Googlehome
There are not many signs of life from Google Home and Google Nest Ecosystem at the moment. Reden Protect Smoke Alarm was discontinued in March and we haven’t had a new Nest -Security Camera since 2021. For the latest Nest Smart Speaker or Smart Display launch, go back further to 2020.
We got a new Nester thermostat last August, but it was only made available in the US and older models are no longer sold in Europe. Add the increasing number of errors reported and it is understandable that users are upset.
Google has a track record to get interested in something and then give up it, from Chromecast devices to Google Stadia – which will obviously expose people from investing their time and money in what Google offers in the future.
Google’s latest favorite toy is of course Gemini AI, and it is possible that we will see new smart home units with Gemini on board in the future. Given how little attention Google recently aimed at the hardware it has already received in this category, there would be no guarantee that any new gadgets would be supported in the long term.
