LAHORE:
Another petition landed in the Lahore High Court challenging the 27th constitutional amendment, adding to the growing legal opposition to the controversial amendment.
Citizen Asbah Kamran filed the constitutional petition naming the President of Pakistan, the Parliament and the Senate as respondents through their respective Secretaries.
In the petition, the petitioner claimed that the 27th Amendment is inconsistent with the fundamental principles of Islam. It argues that once the constitution is in place, neither the parliament nor the senate can legislate in a way that goes against Islamic principles.
