- Aoostar teases Eg01 Egpu Dock with Thunderbolt 5 and Oculink -Connection
- Mini PC Mount allows stacked Desktop setting up to users with limited space
- Expected Global Release even though Price Information has not yet been revealed
Chinese Hardware -Starting Aoostar has teased a new external GPU dock with a rather unusual design and some advanced connectivity options.
Aoostar EG01 follows other open-framed docks, such as Peladn Link S-3, which uses Thunderbolt 5, and the Minis Forum DEG1 using Oculink.
However, EG01, listed on the company’s global site, goes better by offering both Thunderbolt 5 and Oculink, making it one of the first docks in a consumer-ready design to do so, while including a mounting for a mini-PC.
Global availability
It is this framework over the power supply gap that makes EG01 so unusual.
The event allows the mini-PC to be stacked vertically on top of the GPU, creating a compact desktop add-on rather than separate devices that you can see in a promotional image above.
For anyone who is short on the desk, it may be very welcome to build up instead of outside.
Aoostar released his AG01 EGPU dock with an Oculink port and a built-in 800W power supply last year. EG01 takes another route and does not come with an integrated PSU.
Instead, dock depends on a user-delivered ATX or SFX device that provides power to both GPU and Dock’s electronics.
EG01S Single Thunderbolt 5 -Port supports 150W USB flow supply, allowing dock to charge connected systems with more power than many competing models.
EG01 is not the only product that offers both Thunderbolt 5 and Oculink connection.
We wrote about the FNGT5 Pro from Chinese manufacturer FEVM earlier this year.
This product offers double Thunderbolt 5 ports and oculink, but depends on a built-in GPU laptop (RTX 4060, 4080 and 4090) and does not allow upgrades.
It was also only ever available in China, while – given its presence at the company’s international place – a global release for EG01 seems anything but secured.
Aoostar has not yet announced pricing for EG01, but now that it is up on the website, further details will soon arrive.
