AP Top 25: Texas ranked No. 1 to start college football season

Arch Manning and Texas Longhorns sit on top of the first Associated Press Top 25 Preseason College Football Poll when the rankings were released on Monday.

Manning enters its first season as the starting quarterback and takes over for Quinn Ewers who chose to turn Pro and enter the NFL draft. This is the first time Longhorns was ranked No. 1 in the AP Preseason vote.

It is far from an easy task to be voted as the No. 1 team in the nation and keep the undefeated record all the way through the College Football Playoff.

For Longhorns, it will be almost impossible from bats. Texas starts its season on August 30 on the road towards Ohio State. Buckeyes was ranked No. 3 in the first poll and enters the 2025 season as the defending national masters. Texas also has Florida and Georgia on its SEC dock this season. Bulldogs are No. 5 of the vote and Gators is No. 15.

Penn State was ranked No. 2 in the nation. Drew Allar returns to lead Nittany Lions under the center. Nicholas Singleton will be in the back field to give an extra firepower on earth. Defensive end Dani Dennis-Sutton will lead the charge of defense.

Ohio State returns Jeremiah Smith and Caleb Downs to its list. The team is likely to start with red shirt -Nydogner Julian Sayin as a start -quarterback.

Clemson is the top ranked ACC team in the AP vote. DABO Swinney’s team returns Cade Clubnik in the Quarterback position. He could be one of the first players taken in next year’s NFL draft. TJ Parker and Peter Woods anchor the defensive line for Tigers.

Georgia will always be a threat to win the national championship with Kirby Smart at the helm. The team suffered a rash of injuries late in the 2024 season, which probably cost them a chance for the title. The Bulldogs return with Gunner Stockton under the center and broad recipients Noah Thomas and Zacharia Health branch as wide reception targets.
