- Apple has delayed the smarter AI-Infunded Siri and says it will arrive “in the coming year.”
- Since Apple Intelligence’s debut, we’ve been waiting to try the smarter SIRI with access to apps
- “It will take us longer than we thought to deliver on these features ”
We have all been waiting for Apple to drop the important Siri upgrade to arrive at a time within iOS 18 life cycle. It goes beyond Siris’s colorful glow around the screen that has been here since the iPhone 16 lineup launched in September 2024, and was promised to make the virtual assistant smarter, more useful and a much better conversation.
However, our hopes were greatly reduced by iOS 18.4 arrived as a developer and public betas without a new Siri. This is especially true after so many reports and rumors suggested that Apple was planning to release the new Siri – at least the first taste of it – in the spring.
But now Apple has confirmed to bold Fireball that the significant Siri upgrade is delayed: “It will take us longer than we thought to deliver these features, and we expect to roll them out in the coming year.” These features included Siri factoring in personal context and the ability to view, understand and control different applications on your device.
Apple announced originally Upgraded Siri with personal context back on head WWDC 2024 Keynote (World Wide Developers Conference) On June 10 without an accurate release date in writing, but that it would arrive in the coming months.
The statement to Disposing fireball Full from Apple Reads: “Siri helps our users find what they need and get things done quickly, and in just the last six months we have made Siri more conversation, introduced new features as a type to Siri and product knowledge and added an integration with chatgpt. We have also worked on a more personal Siri, giving it more attention to your personal context as well as the ability to intervene for you within and across your apps. It will take us longer than we thought to deliver these features and we expect to roll them out in the coming year. “
Apple has rolled out several Apple Intelligence features, yet this major upgrade to Siri, which would have put it on the same game field as Openais Chatgpt voices or Gemini Live, was a real headliner. Writing tools, message summaries and cleaning up photos, among others, are all useful and it is SIRI’s ability to provide technical support. Still, the really smarter Siri would have been the right meat and potatoes from Apple Intelligence.
It is also a rare recording from Apple, but the strong communication and transparency with levels of level setting for when these features are finally sent will be appreciated. I can imagine even more for people who have been waiting for it to fall – I am one of them – and have invested in devices capable of running Apple Intelligence. It’s on a par with the cancellation of Airpower, iPhone 4’s ‘Antennagate’ and reloading Apple Maps.
Further, It is worth giving this piece of Techradar’s editor-in-Large Lance Ulanoff A Read With this statement from Apple, which provided additional context-apples privacy first and a more cautious approach with AI and Apple Intelligence did not favor it to write “Yes, I get that Apple is the most privacy attention and secure consumer platform and ecosystem. Part of their AI strategy is about private cloud compute. But what is the locked steam that actually does for us? “
It is worth reading now in the light of the confirmed delay. At least Apple is still required to roll out this new Siri with personal context and app access. Furthermore, it is clear that they are required to do it right … even if it takes more time.
It is safe to say that the effort will be even higher at the 2025 World Wide Developers Conference and with iOS 19, both of which are probably three months away, as the event is typically within the first two weeks of June.
