Invitations to Apple’s iPhone 17 event have just gone out and the company has confirmed that the show will take place on September 9, 2025. It will give us our first glimpse of the iPhone 17 series and more, and there may well be some tips buried in Apple’s “AWE tab” invitation card.
The first clue is in the event name. Apple has chosen “Awe Dropping” this year, and it suggests us that the company is convinced that it has some great news to share. Based on the rumors we have seen so far, it could be the iPhone 17 air, which is likely to be Apple’s thinnest phone ever and something that can take the iPhone line in a new direction.
If you saw the Apple invitation on an iPad or iPhone, you may have noticed that you can interact with it: push a finger or stylus over the Apple logo and its colors move to follow your input. It might be an allusion to Apple Liquid glass nest design, which also contains colorful visual effects that move and break lights.

When we talk about colors, Apple’s “Awe Dropping” logo shows prominent oranges, yellow and blues. It could possibly point to the iPhone 17’s colors, which everyone allegedly has in a photo from Leaker Sonny Dickson, which he claims he is showing the entire phone lineup. Among the devices are dark blue and orange iPhone 17 Pro phones as well as light blue and golden yellow iPhone 17 air units.
The tones of the event logo are also reminiscent of patterns produced by a heat -sensing device. Could it be an indication that Apple will improve iPhone’s cooling skills? There are rumors that the iPhone 17 program list is coming with steam chamber cooling, which would certainly be worth shouting from Apple.
What probably won’t come to the show
All that said, there are a few things that we will unlikely to look at Apple’s September event. First, indications before the show suggest that the Mac line will be completely absent, with Apple planning to launch new Macs either later in 2025 or in Early 2026. If you want a new MacBook Pro or iMac you will probably have to wait.
Likewise, it is very unlikely that HomePod will appear despite strong claims that Apple is busy developing a HomePod with an integrated display and a version of the speaker that puts a screen on a robotic arm. However, there is still a while to wait before these products are ready.
Finally, AirPod’s Max headphones have been largely abandoned unchanged since their 2020 launch, with only a USB-C port and new colors added by 2024. Despite that, the device is not expected to be upgraded in September and there is no suggestion that a new edition is planned for the expected future.
There must still be plenty on the show on Apple’s “Awe Dropping” event. If the logo is something to pass by, we could have lots on our plate.
