- Apple is assumed to increase the production of its M5 chipset
- It is currently scheduled for later in the year or early 2026
- It is reported to stick to the TSMC 3NM process, with Apple even to move to TSMC 2NM, which offers even greater effective efficiency
We are still awaiting Apple’s rumor about the M4 Ultra Chip to be revealed and ending the M4 family later in the year (Plus M4 -driven MacBook Airs is soon launched) -but it seems that Cupertino Company is already looking at what lies in front of us for its future units.
According to the South Korean media output, a news (reported by macumors) is Apple’s M5 chips already during mass production and could arrive as early as this year. These reports arrive in the midst of speculation from Mark Gurman (who is known for its reliable Apple leaks) about the M4 Ultra chip, which is expected to surpass the M4 Max’s 16-core CPU and 40-core GPU.
The new rumors also suggest that the M5 base model is currently the main focus of mass production, with the Premium models such as the M5 Pro and M5 Max viewed later. Apple is reported to adhere to the use of TSMC 3NM (Nanometer process technology), which allows for good effect and performance with smaller transistors, as seen in the current M4 chips -Apple will not use TSMC 2NM yet.
While we have not yet seen what the M5 chipset has to offer, we even see rumors that the hint that the M6 MacBook Pro (expected for 2026) could contain the largest redesign yet, with an OLED screen -and of course one Much faster chip with m6 but don’t let’s get also Far ahead of ourselves.
Apple, take games even more seriously this time …
Now I do not suggest that Apple has not already tried to appeal to players (especially with the recent M4 chips) and the ever -growing library of AAA games that are now compatible with Mac hardware -but I really want the M5 – chipset and future processors to better accommodate players.
This is not only by giving stronger chips alone and continuing to improve macos’ ability to handle games, but there is a way that Apple could win over new players – and it is with handheld games – PCs. When you see how powerful the M -series with chips has been for MACs, it is undeniable how much of a power center would be if it is stacked up against the current handheld game units we already have as MSI Claw 8 AI+ or Asus Rog Ally X.
Apple clearly has experience with handheld games, with the M4 iPad Pro capable of running AAA games, plus modern iPhone games are becoming increasingly ambitious. The iPad Pro is arguably the closest we’ve got an Apple -handed game console or PC so far, and it would be even better if it was running macOS instead of iPados – which would give us access to Steam and several other desktop – game.
While there would be a lot to be done from the game developers in terms of porter games for Mac devices at launch (something Apple has worked hard to make it easier to be fair), I think Cupertino Company could steal The limelight with ease. I assume it’s just a matter of whether it wants it enough …
