- Apple has just upgraded iPad on Entry-Level, now called iPad (A16)
- The new A16 chip is up to 50% faster than the previous generation but does not support Apple Intelligence
- It keeps the same price and doubles the start storage
Alongside the unveiling of the next generation iPad Air with the M3 chip, Apple is also upgrading iPad on Entry-Level-But It might not be the upgrade you expected. The good news is that it still comes in a few fun colors and holds the same starting price. Like the iPad Mini (A17 Pro), it is now iPad (A16) with the processor name in the title.
In the US, it starts at $ 349. Instead of 64 GB of storage, it comes with 128 GB of internal stock to begin with. This means that you have more space for apps, photos and files.
It is the first product launched by Apple in recent memory that does not support Apple Intelligence. The new iPad is powered by the A16 chip, which will provide even better performance to the entry-level model with a 5-core CPU, a 4-core GPU and a 16-core neural engine over the previous A14 Bionic Chip. However, this chip is not capable of Apple Intelligence, so it is important to remember it and weigh the importance of these features.
Still, iPados 18 has to run just fine here and be suitable for games, streaming, editing, searching the Internet and FaceTime calls, among other things. Apple says that compared to the previous generation, it is up to 50% faster and that “A16 makes the updated iPad up to 6x faster than the best-selling Android tablet.” We just don’t know what Android Tablet Apple compares to.
Even without Apple Intelligence, the now eleventh generation iPad with A16-CHIP still holds a USB-C port for charging, a touch ID sensor in the power button and supporting two key accessory-APPLE-APPLE-pencil’s first generation, Apple Pencil with USB-C and Magic Keyboard Folio, Keyboard.
Interestingly, the iPad (A16) looks to have a slightly larger screen than the previous generation. It is now measuring as an 11-inch liquid retina screen (2360 x 1640 resolution) with support for real tone compared to the tenth generation 10.9-inch liquid retina viewing of iPad.
Apple notes that the iPad still has rounded corners, so the “actual visible area is smaller” in the ‘Tech Specs’ section on the site, but we will have to see when we can go handy if the framework was shrunk.
The iPad still sticks with a 12-megapixel camera on the back and a 12-megapixel camera on the front with support for the middle stage to automatically keep you in the frame for calls. Completion of the specifications is landscape stereo speakers, double microphones for recording audio, Wi-Fi 6 and Bluetooth 5.3. If you choose the cellular model, it still supports 5G below 6 GHz, but there is no MMWAVE support similar to iPhone 16E.
Like iPad Air with M3, you can pre -order the iPad (A16) right now if you are already sold and it is formally launched on March 12, 2025.
