- Apple has sent a new iPhone 16 ad space online
- The clip shows the hardened ceramic shield glass
- A case is probably still a good idea
Apple’s ad seats are always polished, thoughtful made and worth checking out, and the latest clip that appears promotes the ceramic shield covering the iPhone 16, suggesting that your phone will be protected from drops, even without a case.
The 35-second clip that you can see on YouTube is set in an amusement park. A father hand over his iPhone 16 to a passer -by to take a photo of him and his family, but it would be photo slums fumbling the phone and falling on the floor.
Do not panic, viewers: The iPhone 16 in question is protected by Apple’s latest ceramic shield glass. The young person in the family goes over and picks up the iPhone, which does not have a scratch on it and the family’s photo can be taken.
Apple has used this robust, Corning-Made Ceramic Shield material since the iPhone 12, but the upgraded version introduced with the iPhone 16 is apparently 50% harder. There are some welcome extra peace of mind if you use your iPhone without a case.
I keep me with a case please

While the Apple ad not explicitly indicates this, the implication is that your iPhone 16 will be well protected from drops, even if you are not putting a case on it-but I’m not so sure I’m ready to accept it fully.
After all, hardened glasses are still glass and you don’t have to look far on Reddit or social media to find broken iPhone 16 screens, even from small drops. In my experience, iPhones remain as smooth as ever and the soil can be very unforgivable.
We are talking about what can be one of the most important, valuable and often used possessions you have here: Your iPhone connects you to the wider world, keeps you informed, saves all your photos and videos and more.
The ceramic shield is no guarantee of damage – nor Apple claims it is to be fair – and considering how cheap and lightweight many of the best iPhone 16 cases are, it makes a lot of sense to add a little extra protection upstairs.
