Islamabad:
Advisor to the Prime Minister on Law and Justice, Barristors Aqeel Malik, rejected Sunday accusations that the 26th constitutional amendment aimed to control the judiciary.
In a speech with a private news channel, he said the 26th constitutional reform ensures the rule of law and power separation. The 26th change was a step towards legal transparency and constitutional supremacy, he added.
In response to criticism that the government is affecting legal appointments, he said that the appointment of judges remains within the constitutional framework.
He rejected accusations that the government is installing preferred judges in high courts through provincial nominations.
