Arch Manning was a big move on SEC Media Days last season, but now that he is officially starting quarterback for Texas Longhorns, attention was even bigger on Tuesday.

However, that was what Manning wanted, at least in terms of where he plays football.

The nephew of the Super Bowl-winning Quarterbacks Peyton and Eli Manning as well as the grandson of the New Orleans Saints legend Archie Manning explained how the transfer of the Longhorns program was never a thought process for him.

“I think the most important thing was that I wanted to be at the University of Texas,” Manning said via On3 Sports. “There’s no other place I wanted to be, whether it was the school itself, Austin, my friends, the football program. As long as I continued to get better at football and as I was, it was a no-brainer for me to stay.”

When Quinn Ewers returned to 2024 college football season instead of entering the NFL draft, it was speculated that Manning would go somewhere else so he could start.

Instead, he was set to back up Ewers once again and he was needed for 10 games this season because his teammate was injured.

Manning threw himself in 939 yards with nine passing touchdowns and two interceptions over this span and completed 67.8% of his passport.

He also showed some wheels when he had to pull and run, hurried in 108 yards on 25 carrier with four touchdowns.

Now Manning knows that he has the keys to head coach Steve Sarkisian’s violation, and it’s time to show what he can really do when he starts on a consistent basis.

However, the hype around manning is nothing new. When he came up as a top perspective on Isidore Newman School, the same as his father Cooper and his uncles, Manning has treated the national light and in turn the comparisons with his family members.

Peyton recently talked about “The Pat McAfee Show” about his nephew, where he said that even and Eli are certainly resources for him. However, he knows that Arch wants to name himself, and his father has done a fantastic job of helping him get to this point as well.

“You know Pat, Eli and I’m his uncles,” Peyton told McAfee. “We try to be there as a resource for him, but Cooper has done a good job with Arch, and they have handled all the different things that have come their way in the right way. I’m excited to see Arch Play. He’s been very patient. I thought he threw the ball really well in the camp.”

Peyton also touched on how he liked to see his nephew stay in Texas and learn in the past two seasons.

“He’s been patient,” Peyton explained. “It’s been well documented, he’s been there two years. I’m such a belief in mastering the system you’re in. When you have new coordinators every single year in the NFL and College, it’s just frustrating for me. I was lucky … The fact that Sarcisian calls acting and Arch has been there for two years and will know the system that will be a huge benefit to him.

“I look forward to seeing him coming out on the field. He has worked really hard. I love to watch him go to that camp for his teammates. It’s to be a good teammate. It’s to be a good wingman. I’m excited to get down there and watch a couple of matches in Austin.”
