- The latest Xbox Insider Program Alpha and Alpha Skip-Head-Update Seems to cause problems
- Users report that their profiles are wiped out from their consoles with others who are unable to install the update at all
- The problem is now reportedly resolved but you still need to be careful
I’ve got some bad news if you are a member of the Xbox Insider program as it looks like the latest update pushed to Alpha and Alpha Skip-Head channels could dry user profiles from Xbox consoles.
According to the comments on a recent post for R/Xboxinsides Sureddit, users found their Xbox Series X- and Xbox Series Consoles apparently reset when they turned on for the past few days. If you are unlucky enough to be affected, it means you will need to review most of the installation process again to log in with your Xbox account. Fortunately, while your purchases and gaming installations will be unlikely to be affected, adaptation settings and quick resumption data will be missing and it may take some time to get back to the desired setup.
Some users also reported that they were unable to get the update to work at all with multiple failed installations. An unlucky Redditor even said that the language setting for their Xbox console is now “randomly set in what seems to be Chinese”, leaving them completely unable to use the system because they “can’t read anything”.
The questions are now reportedly resolved, but that does not mean that you should not step carefully. This is a good reminder that you probably shouldn’t have your most important Xbox console signed up for the Xbox Insider program, as there is very rare that there is always a chance that early updates like this may go wrong.
This latest update was first released on March 5 and became mandatory on March 6th. It was intended to introduce a few small corrections to the profile system, TV settings and various small location smokes.
