The federal cabinet on Tuesday approved the promotion of the Chief of Army Staff (Coas) General Syed Asim Munir to rank as a field marshal.

Field Marshal Asim Munir expressed deep gratitude to Allah, Almighty, when they were awarded Rank as Field Marshal, dedicated to the whole nation, Pakistan armed forces, and especially to the martyrs and veterans – both civilians and military.

“This is not a personal performance, but a tribute to the armed forces and the population of Pakistan,” said Field Marshal Munir in a statement released by Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR).

He expanded thanks to the president, the Prime Minister and the Federal Cabinet for their confidence and emphasized that honor is a national confidence that requires the highest victim.

“Millions of ASIMs are ready to put their lives to maintain it,” he added.
