Islamabad:
President Donald Trump praise Tuesday night Pakistan to help the United States catch the alleged Mastermind in August 2021 Kabul Airport attack, which killed 13 US service men, besides 170 others.
“Tonight, I am pleased to announce that we have just arrested the supreme terrorist responsible for this cruelty, and he is currently on his way to meet the rapid sword of American justice,” he said the American Congress.
“And I especially want to thank Pakistan’s government for helping arrest this monster,” Trump added a lot to the surprise of many who thought Pakistan no longer remains relevant in Washington.
Hours before President Trump’s speech received Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar a call from US national security adviser Michael Waltz.
“The NSA conveyed President Trump’s appreciation and thank you for the government of Pakistan’s efforts to counter terrorism,” read a statement issued Wednesday by the Foreign Office.
It said Deputy Prime Minister/Foreign Minister congratulated the NSA with his assumption of office and reiterated that Pakistan was looking forward to building his long -standing and broadly based relationship with the United States under President Trump and his administration.
He confirmed Pakistan’s obligation to continue his cooperation with the United States in terrorism. He also appreciated President Trump’s announcement to withdraw the US military equipment in Afghanistan.
The two sides confirmed their obligation to improve cooperation in it, energy and mineral sectors. They also agreed on the need to have continued dialogues about trade, investment, climate change and health as part of a broad -based agenda in the coming days.
This was the first high -level contact between Pakistan and the United States since President Trump joined.
But the intelligence managers of Pakistan and the United States were in contact with each other for the past few weeks.
Trump had directed CIA director John Ratcliffe to bring the perpetrators and Mastermind in Abbey Gate Terrorist Attack.
One day after his confirmation from the Senate, the new CIA chief picked up the safe line and spoke with ISI chief LT General Asim Malik. The CIA director sought Pakistan’s help to catch Muhammad Shareeeefullah also known as Jaffer. Both spy executives also met and discussed progress on the sidelines of the Munich Security Conference last month.
Axios, an American site, reported that the CIA had been monitoring Sharifullah for some time, but in recent days it received specific intelligence about his location.
The CIA provided the information to the Pakistani intelligence agency that sent an elite unit that caught him near the border with Pakistan-Afghanistan, the officials said.
When the Pakistani top spy agency arrested the alleged Mastermind in August 2021 Kabul Airport attack a few days ago, it was to make a bigger decision – whether to advertise the catch or let the United States do what is needed.
After consultations in the house, the Pakistani authorities decided to notify the Trump administration of the goal of high value and leave it to Washington to advertise Muhammad Shareefullah’s capture, one of the best commanders of Daesh.
Pakistan believed that the US government could announce the big news through spokesman for the White House. However, it never knew that President Donald Trump would publish in his first address to the US Congress.
More importantly, he is publicly recognized Pakistan’s role in helping the United States trace one of America’s most sought -after terrorists.
Pakistan’s gamble to allow the US administration to make the message has paid off. For the first few weeks of the White House, Trump has thrown both friends and enemies. But in his address to the American Congress, Trump Pakistan praised something that was a surprise to many.
A senior official told The Express Pakinomist on Wednesday that it was President Trump who himself decided to name Pakistan when he thought it was a big catch and Pakistan “deserves credit.”
Pakistan was nervous about what President Trump would bring to the table for the country in his second period. His public understanding of Pakistan has decided some nerves in Islamabad.
