Rawalpindi:
The family of the retired air marshal Javed Saeed, who was arrested from his residence last year, contested his arrest in Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Thursday and sought his safe improvement.
The petition was filed under Article 199 of Pakistan’s Constitution of his wife, Shazia Javed, with the federal government and Pakistan Air Force (PAF) named as respondents.
According to the other, illegal and forced detention of her husband by respondents is in violation of the fundamental rights guaranteed under Pakistan’s constitution and against the UN/International Charter of Human Rights, where Pakistan is also signing.
The petition was filed by lawyer Inam-Ur-Rehman, who pleaded, that the retired air marshal javed saeed reached a superan reunion age on March 18, 2021 after reaching one of the highest rows of the PAF and serving the strength of distinction.
He was allegedly abducted from his home in sector E-9, Islamabad, on January 1, 2024 by the government staff. Police and PAF officials were contacted and after a few weeks the petitioner (his wife) was allowed to meet her husband.
During the meeting, an intelligence officer was present and it was revealed that PAF had detained him and that the investigation was almost completed, with his release expected within a few days.
The petitioner has tried his best to turn to the PAF authorities to release her husband, but in vain instead of releasing her husband, as his regular retirement pension was also stopped without any legal justification.
Adding insult to injury the medical right of the petitioner as a wife of a retired PAF officer was also illegally canceled for no reason. Later, on the protest of the petitioner, she was only allowed to have the medical treatment at PAF Hospital E-9 Islamabad.
It has been more than a year since the husband’s man is in the illegal custody of the PAF authorities without a proper law process. The efforts to contact senior PAF officers and arrange meetings were not successful.
The retired officer’s pension was stopped and the government -based family’s healthcare services were also interrupted, although his wife’s medical treatment was later restored. Despite this, the illegal detention of air marshal javed saeed continues.
According to the petitioner, if there is a charge against the officer, the same can be continued before the Court of Competent Jurisdiction in accordance with the law.
