After scoring, Jesus unveiled a shirt that read, “I belong to Jesus.”

Jesus was asked about his shirt and was present in his answer.

“Jesus saved my life from the beginning, when I was born, I didn’t know it yet. Through the hard moments in my life, I realized that we are nothing without Jesus, so I want to glorify his name. He made a huge difference in these hard moments. So now, in this shining moment, I want to praise his name,” said Jesus.

“To start the year the way I was playing, the confidence back and for some reason the Lord stopped me and then I could do better as a person, as a person. I think it’s amazing how Jesus works in our lives. Sometimes you just keep asking, doubting yourself, but you never know what’s going to happen, what Jesus has prepared for you. So I say just keep going in the process and trust Jesus.”

The goal was Jesus’ first in almost an exact calendar year after suffering an ACL injury in January. He was left out of the team’s squad for the UEFA Champions League, but can play in the team’s other matches.

Brazilian soccer star Kaka wore a similar shirt back in 2007.

Jesus actually got a yellow card for taking his shirt off, but certainly for him it was worth it.

Jesus expects to play for Brazil at the World Cup this coming summer. He was on the team in 2022 but missed action due to a knee injury sustained in the group stage.
