Arthur Jones, Brother of Jon and Chandler Jones, Dead of 39

Arthur Jones, an important defensive Lineman under the Baltimore Ravens’ race for the Super Bowl title in 2013, has died, announced his former team Friday. He was 39.

“We are very sad about learning about Arthur Jones’ sudden passing,” said Raven’s General Manager Eric Decosta in a statement.

Jones was credited with a sack and a fumble improvement in the game against the San Francisco 49ers, which secured the Ravens’ second Vince Lombardi Trophy.

The game is remembered for a long delay caused by a power outage inside New Orleans’ Superdome. Jones’ sack happened just moments before the power cut. His fumble improvement in the second quarter helped to create a ravens -Touchdown.

“Arthur’s presence was a gift to everyone he met,” the statement continued. “His great, bright smiles, contagious energy and eternal positivity created a presence that continuously lifted others. He was kind, polite and enthusiastic – always showed a love for family, teammates and friends.”

Jones was the brother of UFC tongue weight champion Jon Jones and former New England Patriot’s defensive end Chandler Jones.

The ravens chose Jones in the fifth round of 2010 NFL Draft. He started 20 games for Baltimore over four seasons and finished his stint with 8½ sacks.

Jones joined the Indianapolis Colts in 2014 and retired in 2017 after a year of stint with Washington.

He finished his NFL career with 10 sacks.
