- Nvidias RTX 5060 TI 8GB GPU suffers up to 10% benefit loss using PCIE 4.0
- This comes after speculation that its PCIE 5.0 x8 specification and 8 GB VRAM capacity would be a disadvantage
- This means players will have to buy a PCIe 5.0 Motherboard for Better Performance using GPU
Nvidia’s RTX 5000 series -Launch is not yet complete, with RTX 5060, which is now set to launch on May 19. However, the RTX 5060 TI 8 GB GPU owners may like a significant loss of performance without realizing it.
According to Computer Base, RTX 5060 TI 8GB GPU suffers a performance loss of up to 10%when using PCIE 4.0 over PCIE 5.0. This was previously rumored before the launch when one of MSI’s models was leaked, which revealed its PCIe X8 specification, which was claimed to be an injury to the 8 GB VRAM version.
We can now clarify that this is the case as Computer Base’s tests reveal an average FPS of 44.3 using PCI 5.0, against an average FPS of 37.9 using PCI 5.0 on RTX 5060 TI 8 GB GP, based on performance across multiple games.
This is an important matter for those who use PCIE 4.0 motherboard; 8 GB GPU is already weaker than its 16 GB counterpart and like the RTX 5070 TI, so additional benefits can hit consumers much harder. It points to 8GB GPUs once again, and whether they are enough to deal with triple-a games in day-and-proof shows, they cannot.
More of a reason why 8 GB GPUs should go …
Given the 8 GB VRAM capacity, I had a strong feeling that the rumor of PCIe performance constraints was legitimate and that seems to be the case.
Players who use more powerful GPUs such as RTX 5070 TI or RTX 5080 may like a little-to-nin performance loss using PCIe 4 or lower instead of PCIE 5.0; And while there was a significant loss of performance, it would not be almost enough to get frustrated.
But with a much weaker 8GB GP (and honestly, one that most consumers do not want to pursue), these performance drops will be more important as performance will not be great in GPU-intensive games to begin with. Much of this can be solved by lowering graphics settings or games of 1080p, but 8 GB VRAM capabilities can only last as long before it is completely unsustainable.
If the message was not already ready enough, it is best to choose another map of the RTX 5060 Ti – unless you are okay with 8 GB VRAM and buy a new PCIe 5.0 motherboard …
