- Asus has given us the details of its RTX 5070 launch models
- Three versions of RTX 5070 launched and one is on MSRP
- However, the other two RTX 5070 variants appear to be steep prices, and there are hints that the stock may be scarce (on top of the rumors saying the same)
Asus has revealed details of its RTX 5070 graphics cards for the launch day of this new NVIDIA GPU – which is today, in case it escaped your attention – and that’s not good news. Unfortunately, it more or less confirms our fears about the potential lack of stock and probability of inflated pricing.
Videocardz was eager enough to notice the post from Asus on Reddit, outlining the RTX 5070 launch details and there will be three models available to buy later today (in a few hours in theory).
The positive news is that there is a model from ASUS that debuts on the official MSRP set by Nvidia, which is $ 550 in the United States. This is the primary taste of the RTX 5070 (and presumably it will also be in line with Nvidia’s recommended pricing in other regions).
If you want the Prime OC model – the over -clocked version of this baseline graphics card – has ASUS connect the requested price to $ 700.
You need a cooler wallet still to use the ASUS TUF gaming edition of the RTX 5070, which tips the scales for $ 740 – which I should notice is only shy for MSRP of $ 750 for RTX 5070 Ti, a long superior graphics card.
These are the prices you find on the Asus Online Store in the US, and with other retailers to follow these MSRPs. Furthermore, these are the only three models that are being launched today that, as I discuss next, is another ominous sign.
Analysis: Prime Mover, but Prime OC – not so much
The fact that ASUS only starts with three RTX 5070 models is a rather fierce hint that the stock will be very easy, just as the proposals have fallen elsewhere in the Reddit post. There is an Asus ROG Strix version of the RTX 5070, we are told, but it will not be for sale from Get-Go.
Asus says: “Unfortunately, the ROG Strix cards will not be available day 1 .. There is currently no ETA for when these cards will be available.”
It sounds so gloomy and Asus does not seem hope that the top-end model will be out at any time. When you consider this in the cold light of all the rumors that the RTX 5070 has poor supply levels, it again looks like this may be an Nvidia Blackwell launch of the paper-thin kind. A field day for scalpers and bots if you want (again).
The pricing from ASUS is also worrying here and pushes what should be a middle-class GPU to the upper mid-range area. Okay, so this can be expected with some top-tier custom graphics cards, but what about the difference between Asus Prime and Prime OC here- is $ 700 vs $ 550 for a little of an overblock of the latter. A 27% price increase in other words.
Granted, we don’t know how much of an over -clock it is – Asus still hasn’t stated the boosts for these cards, they are still ‘tbd’ on the official specifications – but still we can look at the same primary and primary OC variants of RTX 5080 to get a good idea of what to expect.
So what are you going to expect? In the case of the RTX 5080, the overclocked prime dunes of 45MHz to the maximum atmosphere (reaches 2685MHz against 2640mhz). Okay, so you get a better build quality with the board, without a doubt, and maybe more over -clock ceiling height for enthusiasts – but a 27% price increase with RTX 5070’s over -clocked version of Prime Feels … opportunistic at best, cynical at worst.
Because Asus knows these graphics cards will fly off the shelves and therefore people are likely to pay a significant premium to secure one (and avoid paying far more of a prize from a scalper, potentially).
At least Prime is on Entry-Level on his MSRP, but there is also some doubt about it where Videocardz is skeptical of whether a price increase can be used in short order after today’s launch. Will this card hold at MSRP level beyond this week? Well, maybe, to be fair, like the basic -prime model for the RTX 5070 TI still holding $ 750 (for example, at ASUS online store and for example on Newegg).
But it raises the question I have already touched on: Why buy the ASUS TUF -Incarnation of the RTX 5070, which remembers is beaten to $ 740 when you could get the Prime 5070 TI variant for only ten more dollars? (If it wasn’t sold out, that is).
Ten -Spin is, after all, so much better and it would definitely not make sense to get TUF 5070. Unless of course it’s the only model that is actually available and you are desperate To get a sample of Nvidia’s Blackwell action. That said, stock of the RTX 5070 is largely assured to be appalling at this time, considering all the rumors, and therefore this question is likely to be completely theoretical later today when the sale of the RTX 5070 is live in a few milliseconds – and then stocks run.
We get to see, but the way Asus has arranged at prices for these RTX 5070 models does not make much sense (except the perspective of pushing profits).
