In a devastating reversal of events, eight tourist vehicles were swept away by a flash river in the Babusar Pass area of Gilgit’s Ghizer District. The disaster, which was triggered by rising water levels, landslides and heavy floods, has resulted in the loss of at least three lives, with over 15 individuals still missing.
According to Express News, Babusar Road, which runs through the passport, was severely affected after flash floods hit the area. The rising water levels combined with landslide and the overflow of river water led to widespread destruction.
As the flooding water increased, eight vehicles carrying tourists were swept away. Rescue teams managed to save four individuals, but the bodies of three others were regained from the wreck. Over 15 tourists are still missing and a comprehensive search operation is underway.

Faizullah Faraq, a spokesman for Gilgit -Baltistan (GB), confirmed that one of the saved tourists is in critical condition. The situation has been serious, with the region’s communication network disturbed, leaving thousands of stranded tourists without contact with their families.
“The communication system has been severely affected and many tourists are stuck without any way to reach home,” added Pharaq. He also noted that hundreds of stranded tourists were rescued by local residents and delivered shelter.
In response to the crisis, the GB government has mobilized all available resources to help with the rescue operation and bring help to the affected areas.
Rescue teams continue their efforts to locate the missing persons and provide relief to those stranded in the region. Meanwhile, the local authorities with nearby communities coordinate to offer shelter to the distressed.

In the Swat district, in the Swat district, Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, five children tragically lost their lives in two separate rain-related events.
Rescue officials reported that three children died when a roof collapsed under heavy rain, while two others were swept away by a rainwater drain. Rescue 1122 Teams still carry out search and relief operations in the affected areas.
KP Minister of Chief Ali Amin Gandapur expressed grief over the tragic loss and offered compassion for the grieving families. He prayed for the departed souls and called for the strength of the deprived and assured that the provincial government stands with them in this difficult time.
