An anti-terrorism Court (ATC) on Monday extended the temporary guarantee of Bushra Bibi, wife of former Prime Minister Imran Khan, in cases related to November 26 protests.
Due to Judge Amjad Ali Shah’s leave, the court extended Bushra Bibi’s bail until April 8 in 31 cases attached to the protests.
Bushra faces litigation in several districts with 20 cases registered in Rawalpindi, 10 in Attock and one in Chakwal.
Her legal team has maintained that the charges are politically motivated. The government has intensified litigation against opposition figures after last year’s protests.
The former first lady with her husband and senior PTI figures – including Ali Amin Gandapur, Salman Akram Raja and Sheikh Waqas Akram – was booked in several cases after the party’s “final call” protest that ended after a government’s crash.
In addition, the couple and other PTI leaders face a “triple murder” case accused of involving the death of three rangers staff who were allegedly run over under a “do-or-die” protest.
Bushra Bibi and Imran Khan have been tangled in several legal battles, including Toshakhana and £ 190 million corruption cases.
