An anti-Terrord Orror in Rawalpindi rejected Monday’s disgusted divisions filed by Pakistan Tehreek-E-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan and two co-accused in the attack case in General Headquarters (GHQ) on May 9, reported Express News.
Judge Amjad Ali Shah rejected pleas led by Imran Khan, retired Colonel Ajmal Sabir and Suhail Irfan Abbasi, deciding in favor of the prosecutor’s arguments.
During the hearing, prosecutor Zaheer Shah claimed that the trial was underway, with statements from 12 eyewitnesses already recorded. “At this stage, it is inappropriate to hear a acquittal claim. The court should allow the prosecution to present his evidence, ”he added.
He further quoted a precedent and pointed out that Sheikh Rashid’s dismissal in a similar case had been rejected by the Court of Justice, a decision later upheld by the national court. The court agreed with the prosecutor’s arguments and rejected the acquisitions of the three defendants.
The GHQ attacking case concerns violent incidents on May 9, 2023, when protesters stormed and vandalized military installations after Imran Khan’s arrest, which triggered extensive riots throughout Pakistan.
