Shahrez was arrested on August 21 from the residence of his mother, Aleema Khan, with PTI, who claimed the household staff was assaulted and family members were harassed under the raid. His brother, Shershah Khan, was detained the following day.
Defense Attorney Rana Mudassar claimed that Shahrez had been falsely implicated and claimed that no evidence was required that he placed him on stage.

He also noted that more than 500 co-accused in the case had already been awarded bail.
