Atleast ten killed as a container crushes passenger trainer in Indus Highway

At least 10 people lost their lives, and several others were injured on Tuesday in a front-on collision between a passenger car and a trailer on Indus Highway in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa’s (KP) Karak district, according to rescuers.

The fatal crash happened when a passenger coach traveling from Dera Ismail Khan to Peshawar collided with a truck near Meetha Khel.

Rescue teams, together with local residents, immediately responded to stage. Several passengers were caught inside the wreck, which required joint efforts to extract the wounded and the deceased.

The bodies were transported to District Headquarters (DHQ) Hospital in Karak, while four of the severely wounded were moved to Peshawar for advanced medical treatment. Two of them later died in the hospital.

According to rescue sources, all the victims were residents of Miran Shah.

Police confirmed that the driver of the trailer, who was also injured in the incident, has been taken into custody. A study of the cause of the crash is underway.
