- Wireless Contain Lock is now available for AT&T Consumer and Business Users
- Free feature that can be changed in the Myat & T app
- The feature prevents SIM-SWAPPING and similar attacks
AT&T has introduced a new feature to protect consumer and business accounts from SIM-SWAPPING attacks.
Wireless Content Lock will be able to disable multiple key account changes, an important part of the SIM turn, which can give attackers control over a victim’s phone number and let them listen to SMS-based two-factor approval apps.
“The lock is forcing an extra step before important account changes can be made,” AT&T said about the new tool. “It prevents anyone from buying a device on the account, for example, or performing a SIM -Swap – move a phone number to a SIM on another device.”
Malicious insiders and tricked employees
The feature is now available in the Myat & T app for postpaid wireless accounts. There, users can turn it on or off, add an extra step before they can upgrade a device, change a SIM or ESIM card, start a phone number transfer, add a new line, change billing information, change authorized users or change phone numbers.
For business users, there is the business account -lock and an AT&T Prepaid Wireless account lock with similar features. For companies, account managers can find the lock contact wherever they access the account online.
Opponents typically draw the SIM exchange attacks by fooling or bribing employees in the mobile company or using stolen personal data to emulate the victim and convince the carrier to transfer the number to a SIM card they control.
Once successful, the striker can reset passwords and take over sensitive accounts such as E -mail, Bank or Krypto -Books.
While it may sound long-term, these types of attacks are constantly reported by Bitdefender that a student who was interfering with Société Générale Bank was arrested on suspicion of helping SIM-swim fraudsters blamed 50 clients.
