A government convoy that transports dealers of ceasefire between two rival tribes in Upper Kurram has come under gunfire that left the locality’s assistant commissioner Saeed Manan wounded.
According to the Station House Officer, the district administration had successfully broken a ceasefire in Upper Kurram, but while a convoy was on its way to holding conversations with the other fraction when it was under attack.
The convoy, led by assistant commissioner Saeed Manan, was fired, resulting in his injury.
Authorities confirmed that Assistant Commissioner Manan was transferred to Busera Hospital for treatment.
Assistant Commissioner traveled to Busera with the Ghuljo Kelay area to maintain peace when the convoy came under shot.
In response, the district administration tightened security measures in the area. Meanwhile, a Jirga (Tribal Council) is underway at the Commissioner’s office in Kurram.
Meanwhile, about 66 individuals were stranded in Kurram due to recent unrest successfully evacuated.
Based on the recommendations of local elders, 66 people, including women and children, were probably moved to a safe area from Teri Mangal, where they had been caught due to the ongoing violence.
