- Audio-Technica AT-LPA2 is acrylic with high density of reduced resonance
- Power contained in a breakout box to eliminate interference (and to stop it to destroy the appearance)
- $ 2,000 / £ 1,699 / € 1,999 (around AU $ 3,488)
If you are looking for a good gift for the invisible man, Audio-Technica has just the thing: its new flagship tips are (almost) completely transparent.
The new Audio-Technica AT-LPA2 is made of transparent acrylic with high density and also has a clear acrylic dish. The internals such as the power supply unit are located separately, and the result is a turntable that looks so good that it is almost a shame to cover it with a record.
However, the acrylic is not just there to look good. Audio-Technica says it provides “unique” resonance control, leading to sound that is as clear as its plinth and dish.
Audio-Technica AT-LPA2: Key features and pricing
AT-LPA2 is a belt drive with an optical sensor immediately below the spindle to monitor and correct the dish rotation. Like most current turntables, it’s a two-step model; You can’t play 78s on it if you are a collector of really old records.
The turntable has a newly designed carbon fiber tone arm that has adjustable VTA, Azimuth adjustment, a fine-tunable string-type anti-skate mechanism and interchangeable counterweight (110 g and 130 g) to wide patron compatibility.
The cartridge is the Audio-Technicas AT-Oc9x Dual Moving Coil that has a naked elliptical stylus and PCOCC coils with high purity, as Audio-Technica says, delivers low distortion and excellent clarity.
Audio-Technica AT-LPA2 is now available with a RRP of $ 2,000 / £ 1,699 / € 1,999 (approx. AU $ 3,488).
