The Avalanche Foundation appointed Chris Holmes, a conservative member of the House of Lords and a long -standing technology policy spokesman, to his board, the company said Tuesday.
Holmes, who has been active in the design of legislation on new technologies, brings experience in governance, regulation and innovation, says the company. His appointment emphasizes the foundation’s push to elaborate on the commitment with decision makers as blockchain adoption is expanded globally.
“We are honored to welcome Lord Holmes to the Avalanche Foundation’s Board of Directors,” Nicolas Lemaitre, director of the fund, said in the release. “As Blockchain -Adoption is accelerating globally, his guidance will be invaluable in ensuring that Avalanche continues to set the standard of openness, accessibility and trust in the digital economy.”
Holmes played a key role in the update of Britain’s legal framework for digital technologies. He helped drive the transition to the Bill on Electronic Trade Documents, giving Blockchain-enabled digital trading documents the same legal status as paper. He also introduced legislation on the regulation of artificial intelligence and fair work practices and co -author reports on democracy, digital skills and AI.
“Inclusion is fundamental to innovation,” Holmes, a former paralympian, said in the release. “Without different voices and perspectives, the potential of blockchain and related technologies cannot be fully realized. Regulation of the right size is not a barrier to innovation-it is important to it.”
The fund said Holmes’ addition to the board strengthens its mission to build a more accessible and reliable digital economy. His expertise will help the organization promote constructive legislative dialogue worldwide and expand the adoption of blockchain-based tools.
Avalanche Foundation is a non-profit that supports the avalanche ecosystem through grants and initiatives in Blockchain, AI and Web3.
