Maulana Khan Zeb, a senior leader of the Awami National Party (ANP) and former candidate for Bajaur National Assembly, was tragically shot by unidentified attacks on Shindai mother, just steps from the headquarters of Khar Tehsil, Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa on Thursday.
The attack also claimed the life of his police security officer, Sepahi Sher Zada, while three others sustained injuries to the incident. The wounded persons have been identified as Dr. Tariq, Shahsawar and Osman, all of which are currently receiving medical treatment.
Sources show that Maulana Khan Zeb had the campaign for the upcoming Peace March, which was scheduled for July 13 in Bajaur when the attackers opened fire against him. The gunmen fired exclusively and killed Maulana Khan Zeb and the police officer on the spot while the other three were injured.
In response to the attack, ANP workers and local residents have taken the streets and have carried the martyr’s coffin against Khar Bazaar to arrange a protest. The funeral for Maulana Khan Zeb will take place on Friday, July 11 at 1 p.m. 11 in its original area of Nawagai.
Authorities have launched a study of the attack and are working to identify those responsible for the tragic incident.
