In the midst of escalating tension between Pakistan and India, Azerbaijan has announced full support to Pakistan and expressed strong solidarity with his government and people.

In a formal letter directed at the Prime Minister in Pakistan, the Azerbaijanian government expressed concern about the current situation and condemned the recent acts of the Indian military.

The message was delivered by Azerbaijan’s ambassador to Pakistan, Khazar Farhadov, who conveyed a special support from his government.

According to an official statement, Azerbaijan expanded heartfelt compassion to the families to those affected by the recent hostilities and asked for the rapid improvement of the wounded.

The Government of Azerbaijan also called for a peaceful decision to the dispute through diplomatic channels.

In his message, Ambassador Farhadov shared good wishes for the people of Pakistan and confirmed Azerbaijan’s commitment to collaboration and support in this critical time.

Tensions between India and Pakistan have intensified following an attack in Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK), resulting in the death of 22 tourists. India has accused Pakistan of being involved in the incident – an allegation Islamabad has strongly denied.

In the wake of the attack, India announced the suspension of the Indus Waters Treaty and the closure of Wagah-Attari Land Crossing with Pakistan. The actions have drawn strong condemnation from Pakistan’s National Security Committee (NSC), who warned that any attempt to block the flow of water would be considered an act of war under international law.

The situation escalated further during the night of May 6 and 7, when Indian forces reportedly launched missile attacks in six locations in Pakistan. According to DG ISPR, at least 31 civilians, including women and children, were martyred and 71 others were injured in the strikes.
