Babusar Top turns white in May

Balakot:

Intermittent snowfall has continued at Babusar Top, a popular tourist destination in the Kaghan Valley as crowds of tourists flow to experience winter-like situation in May.

Tourists who avoid the heat in other regions welcomes the cold weather and celebrate in the snow. So far, over five inches of snow have been registered on Babusar Top.

Due to the snowfall, the authorities temporarily suspended traffic on Babusar Top Highway for security reasons. However, the road has since been reopened after the weather conditions improved.

Other upper areas of the Kaghan-Dalen-such as Jalkhad, Business and Mountains of Lulusar also also snowfall, which brought winter-like cold back to the region.

The valley now looks like January more than June, and tourists enjoy the cool, refreshing weather.

According to Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD), the current spell of rain and snow may continue for the next 12 hours, which could potentially cause additional temperature drop.

In Balakot, Saturday saw a mixture of clouds and sunshine, while rainfall and snowfall in the surrounding highlands added to the city’s beauty and charm.

With ongoing climate change, the traditional order of four different seasons in the Kaghan valley gradually fades.
