Beogram 4000c Saint Laurent Rear Droite Edition costs about $ 35,000
Each turntable is an original from the 1970s, carefully restored
A very limited edition: only 10 pieces
B&O BOOGRAM 4000 series Turntable is a true design classic, a turntable from the 70s that found a place not only in discerning music fans’ home, but also at art museums. And now it’s back in a strictly limited version that you probably can’t afford but can’t tear your eyes away from.
Belogram 4000c Saint Laurent Rear Droite Edition, to give it its full name, has been created under the waking eye by Saint Laurent’s creative director Anthony Vaccarello.
This is not the first time Vaccarello has reintroduced a classic: For example, last year he redesigned Fender Stratocaster Electric Guitar and accompanying amplifier. But clearly he was just heated because this B&O turntable is staggeringly beautiful.
This is not the first time Beogram 4000C is reborn: B&O restored and fine -tuned 95 of them by 2020 and offered them for $ 11,000 / £ 9,000 / around AU $ 17,000. But this new edition is even more selected and a little more expensive.

Beogram 4000c Saint Laurent Rear Droite Edition: exquisite and inevitable, expensive
As our colleagues on the wallpaper explain, each record player is a fully restored and numbered original with silver-plated metal and a ziricote wooden base. Each original turntable is separated by B&O in Denmark, and each part is then cleaned – and by “each” we mean “each”, right down to the smallest screws – and if necessary replaced.
The handmade wooden frame is new, just like the new finishes on the Zen-like controls aside aside, and each turntable will also get a new cartridge and a new pre-amp.
The tree is made of solid ziricote, which is a dark hardwood; It has “a particularly characteristic grain that creates an object with fascination, even when the turntable is not in use,” says Wallpaper.
I think it looks absolutely amazing. We’re used to seeing a lot of retro-styled turntable or retro-inspired, but it’s something to see a real original come back and show everyone how it’s done.
Beogram 4000c Saint Laurent Rear Droite Edition is available now from Saint Laurent Rjert Droite in Paris and LA and online from both YSL and Bang & Olufsen.
That’s yours for € 30,000 (about $ 35,000 / £ 30,000 / AU $ 50,845), but if you want one you need to be quick: there is only 10 turntable in this release.
