The Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa government has strongly criticized alleged tax evasion of influential political figures, saying that corrupt individuals cannot promote national unity.
In a statement, KP Information accused Barrister Saif Sharif family of financial mismatch and mentioned that Hasan Nawaz has been declared a tax fauler in London. “The Sharif family is now exposed internationally to tax evasion,” he said.
He added that although Pakistanis abroad is working hard to bring a good name to the country, certain political figures stain his reputation. “Imran Khan made Pakistan proud on the global scene, while Sharifs has been a source of shame,” he noted.
With reference to Britain’s strict economic laws, Barrister Saif said that Sharifs continues to avoid taxes, even in a highly regulated system. He claimed their businesses in Pakistan thrive on financial wrongdoing while legitimate investors are fighting.
“Half of the family is in London, the other half in Pakistan, and both are engaged in tax evasion. This is why their empire continues to expand while others are facing financial ruin,” he claimed.
The KP government spokesman also accused the Sharif family for money laundering abroad. “They have ruled Pakistan, but their assets continue to grow abroad. Their pattern to plunder the national treasury and money laundering remains unchanged.”
Barrister Saif concluded that corrupt numbers can never establish national unity. “The nation is tired of this corrupt elite. As long as they remain in power, the national unity will remain an illusion,” he said.
The United Kingdom declared Hassan Nawaz, son of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) President and former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, a tax fauler on Wednesday who introduced a $ 5.2 million pound on him.
The British authorities included Hassan Nawaz on their latest list of tax distributors, officially published on a government site.
According to the report, Hassan Nawaz could not pay approx. 9.4 million pounds in taxes between April 5, 2015 and April 6, 2016.
Britain’s tax authority has now punished him for the due payments. Further details have been made available in public items.
In addition, London High Court last year had declared Hassan Nawaz bankrupt in a tax case initiated by the United Kingdom’s tax and income department.
The bankruptcy decision against Hassan Nawaz came in relation to Case No. 694 of 2023, which was filed on August 25, 2023 in London High Court.
The court’s decision follows Hassan’s financial disputes with British authorities on tax cases, which marks a significant development in the family’s legal challenges abroad.
