- A new report suggests Batman Part II will contain robin
- Rumor appeared less than 24 hours after the film’s filming date was revealed
- If it’s true, that question about DCU’s own Batman movie
Batman Part II Is still over two years away from Grible Gunning to theaters, but a new rumor could not only have enormous consequences for the film itself, but also James Gunn’s DC Universe (DCU).
Let’s start with the latest piece of gossip. Yesterday (August 7), industry insider Jeff Sneids suggested that Robin, The Dark Knight’s most famous sidekick, is part of the superhero film’s crew. Sneids made the claim in the latest addition of his Inseider newsletter and says he was made aware of Robin’s recording after sitting down with a “well-placed source” earlier this week.
Sneider’s claim comes less than 24 hours after Warner Bros. Discovery (WBD) announced that filming would begin at Batman Part II At the beginning of 2026. Given the time of Snowid’s claim, some observers would argue that its arrival is all a little too random. After all, if Snowids spoke with its source before WBD confirmed when the cameras would start rolling on the DC Commerce Film -The Subject, why not reveal it before?
Robin’s apparent inclusion in Matt Reeves’ next Batman movie raises even more questions and potentially kills a huge fanted theory about Batman Part II‘s story. So let’s break down the biggest ones on my mind right now.
First, let’s tackle the aforementioned fan theory. Some fans have speculated on that Batman 2 Will be strongly inspired by ‘The Long Halloween’, one of Caped Crusader’s most famous cartoon. Their proof? BatmanThe follow -up is intended to arrive in October 2027, so a narrative based on Jeph Loeb and Tim Sale’s iconic literary works would monitor the film’s upcoming release date.
Robin’s possible performance in Batman Part II Pouring cold water on that theory because he is not in ‘The Long Halloween’. Okay, Batman Epic Crime Saga’s next entrance to the big screen could take creative freedoms with said literature and include Robin. It wouldn’t be the first time a superhero movie has changed elements in a cartoon it is based on. Nevertheless, I would be amazed if Reeves and colleague-co-author Mattson Tomlin Shoe-horned Robin in their history if it is based on ‘The Long Halloween’, especially as it would have a big impact on the timeline of events from the aforementioned story.
Now is the time to try to tackle some of the big questions I have mentioned in the past-and surprise surprise, they are based on a long-lasting discussion about whether Batman Epic Crime Saga secretly folds into DCU.
Here are Facts: When James Gunn announced the initial DCU chapter a line-up in January 2023, one of the projects he discussed was a Batman movie. The title The brave and boldIt is expected to draw strongly from Grant Morrison and Andy Kubert’s fan-favorite ‘Batman and Son’ Comic Series. In that, the dark knight is stunned to learn that he has a son named Damien, whom he goes in and tries to travel. But without getting too deep into the spoiler territory, there is more than meets the eye of the seemingly genetically perfect, yet furious Damien.
Now, though Robin is confirmed to be part of Batman Part II‘s role crew, we don’t know which one is displaying. It could be any of Dick Grayson, Jason Todd, Tim Drake, Damien Wayne or one of the lesser -known female Robins in Stephanie Brown or Carrie Kelley. There are other Robins, but those mentioned are the best known.
If – and that is a big if – Batman 2 Features Damien, but fans will rightly ask the question: Is Batman Epic Crime Saga eventually becomes part of DCU? After all, it would be silly, not to mention incredibly confusing if we have two Batman movies found in separate filming universes and have the same super duo.
For what it is worth, Gunn and Reeves have largely closed the idea that the Reeves verse is being recorded in DCU. Of crucial importance, however, Gunn has always left the door a little Ajar-DC Studios-CO chief recently says Entertainment Tonight: “I have said it before. We [Gunn and Reeves] have talked about it before but that is not what happens Right now. ”((NB: Gunn did not emphasize the words in italics, but I have done so to hammer my point home that the door is not closed on these two universes potentially merges).
There is evidence that Gunns and Reeves’ Batman films will continue to exist in separate shared universes. In June Gunn said “I think I have a way in” when asked for an update about The brave and bold‘s script. He also revealed that a named author was busy punishing it.
Now you can argue that these things could be related to Reeves’ own Batman flick. He and Tomlin still burst out Batman 2‘s manuscript when Gunn made these comments. The fact that Gunn did not mention the name of his film’s author, plus his “I think I have a way in” quote could be interpreted as him and reeves secretly accepted to fold Batman‘s epic criminal saga into DCU. For me, however, it is akin to fans who cling to straws and try to manifest the integration of the former in the latter.
Honestly in view of Robert Pattison’s Bruce Wayne had only worked as Batman for a few years in Batmanthe only way he would be old enough to have a child in Batman 2 is if it contained a big time jump. Of course, it’s an option, but I don’t see it happening.
The best thing Gunn, who is active on social media, can do right now is to confirm or refuse Sneider’s claim. If Robin is set to appear in Batman Part IIGunn-or even Reeves Self-Kunne give us an indication of which one will be in Reeves’ next big screen project. It is the only way to officially put another pin in this endless debate about the state of Batman Epic Crime Saga’s ongoing independence to DCU.
In the meantime, let me know what you think. Should these two universes remain separate, or is it time for Pattinson’s caped crusader to make the plunge to DCU? Sound off in the comments.
