Battlefield 6 might have launched at the end of last year, but that doesn’t mean the developers at Battlefield Studios have stopped working and are rolling out a series of live service updates with even more on the way.
In a new interview with TechRadar Gaming, the game’s audio team has revealed some of the work they do behind the scenes.
“The work never stops,” said technical sound designer Goncalo Tavares.

“Obviously there’s a sense that the game has launched, with all the hype and all that, but the work just kind of goes on,” added senior audio director David Jegutidse. “It’s not like it doesn’t stop. Sure, we’ve had some vacations and so on, but it just keeps going.”
“We’re not just adding new things, too,” he said. “We constantly polish what we think needs polishing. […] It’s almost as if we haven’t shipped yet. In some cases, I actually like the live service. Once the game is in the hands of the players, the soundscape changes. It’s not a different game, but it is. Gamers play very differently than developers.”
“In the old days, when we started in the business, it was like you had the sprint to finish,” began senior audio director Mari Saastamoinen Minto, “and then that was it.”
In contrast, she explained that “today I think of it more like a marathon.”
Last year, the team’s massive undertaking was recognized with Battlefield 6 wins the award for Best Sound Design at The Game Awards 2025.
“It was a huge team effort and the team worked so hard and we also had a lot of new team members. It was great,” recalled Saastamoinen Minto. “For some people it was their first match and there was a lot of excitement.”
“I was up at 3 a.m. watching the prices,” Tavares recalled. “I had no expectations. I was just enjoying the show and when it was revealed I was like, ‘What?’ My wife was sleeping and I was like whispering to her.”
If you’re interested in hearing the award-winning sounds the team produced for yourself, Battlefield 6 is available now for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X and Series S and PC.
