Karachi: Pakistan Super League (PSL) has been ranked as the second most entertaining men’s franchise cricket League in the world, according to an analysis published by BBC Sport, which places it just behind the Indian Premier League (IPL) in total locations.
The BBC Sport report released earlier this week examined Major T20 and Short format franchise competitions, including IPL, PSL, SA20 in South Africa, Australia’s Big Bash League (BBL), Caribbean Premier League (CPL), UAE’s International League T20 (Oxygen20) and Hundred in England.
The study was conducted in collaboration with the Cricket Analytics Company Cricviz and measured a number of performance and entertainment-related measurements.
The evaluation considered factors such as the average number of four and sixes per year. Fighting, batting strike speeds, the proportion of games decided in the final over or ball, home advantage trends, wicket-take patterns and the average number of international caps among starting XIs.

In the “Entertainment Index”, which aggregated the performance across the measured measurements, IPL emerged as the top ranked league and scored 4.53 index results out of a maximum of five, followed by PSL with 3.90 index results.
Oxygen20 (2.44) was third in the entertainment index, while England’s The Hundred placed the fourth, followed by CPL at 5th and SA SA. 6. BBL ended last.
PSL was launched in 2016 and has quickly grown to one of the most profiled franchise leagues in the cricketing calendar.
