The upcoming Asian Cricket Council (ACC) meeting in Bangladesh is facing a potential change of location following a formal request of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), according to Indian media.
Reports from several India media suggest that BCCI is reluctant to send his delegation to the Dhaka to the ACC meeting, originally scheduled for July 24, with reference to “security and political concerns” in Bangladesh.
Sources show that the Indian cricket board has officially communicated its reservations to ACC and has requested that the meeting be moved to a neutral place.
This development comes after BCCI previously postponed a bilateral series in Bangladesh, which is planned by August, reportedly due to similar concerns.
Now, with India hosting the 2025 Asia Cup, the board’s attitude to traveling to Bangladesh is again under control.
Additional reports say that if the meeting is not changed from Dhaka, BCCI may consider withdrawing from the procedure completely.
Meanwhile, preparations for the Asia Cup 2025 are going on with uncertainty about the defense masters’ participation in fighting against Pakistan due to ongoing geopolitical tensions.
Despite this, sources confirm that India and Pakistan are expected to continue to compete against each other in ICC and ACC events, as no official directive of both boards has been issued to avoid such meetings.
According to the proposed plan, the Asia Cup was able to host the UAE, with the tournament provisionally scheduled to begin on September 5 and end by September 21.
Dubai is likely to host the high-voltage Pakistan VS India clash on September 7 with the potential of another meeting between the Arch rivals in the Super Four Stage.
The 17th edition of the Asia Cup is played in the T20 format and is expected to have six teams: India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Afghanistan and UAE.
The Indian Board of Directors has also approached the Government for the approval of all Asia Cup-related questions as it is waiting for a final decision to choose the venue and participation protocols.
India is the defense champions who have squeezed the previous Asia Cup (played in the ODI format) with a dominant 10-wick victory over Sri Lanka in the final.
