Ben Affleck recalls a unique experience that made the ‘scene better’ of the 1998 film

Ben Affleck gives insight into his one of the hit movies, Armageddon.

The Batman Star, 53, shared in a recent interview that while shooting for the film, he was seriously ill and contracted food poisoning.

It was the same day he had to shoot one of the film’s most emotional scenes, in which Harry S. Stamper (Bruce Willis) switched places with Affleck’s AJ Frost on the asteroid.

“When we shot that scene, I got food poisoning. I wasn’t an experienced enough actor at the time to know that you can just pick up the phone and say, ‘I’m too sick to work today.’ I’m like, ‘I’d better come in.’ So I went and I was literally—that’s the only time that’s ever happened in my life—throwing up in between takes,” he recalled.

“They had a trash can and I had that [vomiting between takes]. And that probably made the scene better,’ he laughed.

The actor recalled that the film had an impact on him and his career and allowed him to work closely with so many talented actors.

“I actually saw Steve Buschemi last night at the premiere of The Rip, and we were reminiscing about that movie and thinking about how it was the weirdest, kind of wonderful, weird, otherworldly movie experience that none of us had any experience with,” he shared.
