When we say “zinda hai bhutto zinda hai”, some people mock it because of their partial and narrow -minded thinking, unaware of their own absurdity. These individuals are unaware of the story. They do not know that in political history there have been several great leaders who have gained a lot of popularity, leading revolutions that changed the time course. However, history has discredited some of their political ideologies, making them politically irrelevant.

These leaders convened popular support on the basis of extremism and provocation, but the anarchy they created ended up destroying them-and their parties and supporters. They included right -wing and leftist politicians, nationalist and religious leaders and even military opportunists.

Shaheed Bhutto’s political vision rests on three basic principles. The first is that the foreign policy of a country must always prioritize the interests of its country and people. The second principle emphasizes solving basic questions internally by ensuring the rights to deprived and oppressed classes, nationalities and groups. This includes recognizing their right to resources, strengthening them financially and giving them all basic human rights, including civil freedoms.

The third fundamental principle claims that achieving the first two principles requires a long and patient democratic struggle that is peaceful, sustainable and serves as a precursor to gradual progress and victories.

The path to the democratic struggle is superior path to destructive adventure or chaos. Adventure and chaos serve interests in imperialist and anti-people forces as they deprive the population of the gains that are achieved through peaceful democratic struggle. This is why such forces always fear those who choose the way of peaceful democratic resistance and make them the goal of their oppression.

The unmatched victims of the Bhutto family together with the leaders and workers in PPP stand as evidence of this fight. PPP’s obligation to peaceful democratic resistance and victims continues today. If Pakistan today has a federal parliamentary democratic constitution, a functioning democracy and federal units with certain rights, it is due to Shaheed Bhutto and Pakistan Peoples Party that maintained his political vision.

According to Shaheed Bhutto’s vision, PPP remains a people’s representative party and continues his battle. That’s why Bhutto remains alive today.

A learned and political leader like Shaheed Zulficar Ali Bhutto was born once a centuries. He saw situations through an international and historical lens with a deep and insightful approach rather than a superficial. When he founded Pakistan People’s Party, the global communist movement was at its highest, and socialist revolutions unfolded. Shaheed Bhutto was a strong spokesman for socialism, but rejected the notion that it could be imposed through just orders or dictatorship. He believed that achieving a classless and socialist society, free of capitalist exploitation, required a gradual, historically controlled process. This transformation, he argued, could only be realized through democracy during a popular political program.

Another great performance of Shaheed Bhutto was not only giving Pakistan a federal parliamentary democratic system through the 1973 Constitution, but also addressing the feeling of deprivation by giving maximum autonomy to the federal units.

He also established a neutral foreign policy for Pakistan, which he elaborated in his book myth on independence. He opposed to sacrifice Pakistan’s interests for the sake of American policies and consistently spoke to stronger ties with China. However, he also emphasized that Pakistan’s national interests should remain prioritized in its relations with China.

Shaheed Bhutto provided every crisis with historically proven solution by emphasizing that people actually have power. Unfortunately, Pakistan expelled from Bhutto’s vision. Instead of strengthening democracy, the country was drawn into the power struggles for global forces, military regimes were required, and ethnic, linguistic, regional, religious and even so -called political extremism were deliberately promoted to counter PPP. Today, Pakistan finds once again trapped in the same destructive cycle that Shaheed Bhutto warned about in his book if I murdered.

His political philosophy has stood the test of time and evidence its relevance and correctness. Given the challenges Pakistan faces today, it is imperative to turn to the vision of Shaheed Bhutto.
