Rawalpindi:
Punjab Highway Patrol police caught a vehicle near the Bewar checkpoint in Kahuta and prevented an attempt to smuggle two Hjortefawns to Azad Kashmir.
Three men were detained and the saved animals were handed over to the wildlife department.
Checkpoint team, including Raja Idrees Langrial and other staff, a car stopped on the way from Islamabad towards Kashmir. In inspection, two Hjortefawns were found in the vehicle.
Passengers were unable to produce valid legal documents for their possession or transport and presented only a few receipts.
After that, the checkpoint Raja Sageheer Abbasi called the Wildlife Department officials to the site.
According to officials, the men had picked up Fawns from Gulberg Housing Society and were on their way to Kashmir without justification. The suspects – identified as Talal, Shahid and Abdul Qayyum – were taken in protective custody and fine.
Fawns was transferred to the Wildlife Department’s care.
Animal life officials praised the Patrol Police’s rapid action and assigned certificates to the officers involved.
