Former President Joe Biden made a post on X Saturday to celebrate International Women’s Day, but many Americans made it a point to call the record for his administration and party in enabling Trans athletes to compete in women’s sports.

During the bite’s presidency, he signed an executive order that enabled trans athletes to compete in women’s and girls’ sports, tried to rewrite title IX to enable it and even tried to punish states to take their own steps to fight the problem.

Since the bite left the office, Democrats in Congress and state governments have done plenty to fight Republican attempts to tackle the question.

The bite’s record to allow Trans athletes to compete in the sports of women and girls became one of the greatest vulnerabilities of the Democratic Party of the 2024 election.

On the first day of his presidency in January 2021, Biden signed a Executive Order on “Prevention and fighting discrimination on the basis of gender identity or sexual orientation.”

This order included a section that read, “Children should be able to learn without worrying about whether they will be denied access to the toilet, the dressing room or school sport.”

In March 2023 Democrats agreed to a transgender rights bill and suggested A decision “Recognizes that it is the duty of the federal government to develop and implement a transgender bill for rights.” The resolution specifically called for federal law to ensure that biological men can “participate in sports on teams and in programs that best adapt to their gender identity; [and] Use school facilities that best adapt to their gender identity. “

Then in April 2023, Biden’s Department of Education suggested a rule change that would have punished schools To prevent trans athletes from competing in women’s sports.

The proposal was titled “Nondiskrimation on the basis of sex in educational programs or activities receiving federal financial assistance: Sex -related eligibility criteria for male and female athletic teams”

The rule would officially have banned individual states from banning participation in one-sex sports by gender identity rather than just sex. There are 23 states in the United States that have legislation in place to limit trans athletes from competing as women in public school sports.

In April 2024, Biden issued a sweeping title IX rewriting, which issued a ban on “sex” discrimination in schools covers discrimination based on gender identity, sexual orientation and “pregnancy or related conditions.” The rule came into force on August 1, and for the first time the law stated that discrimination based on sex includes behavior related to a person’s gender identity.
