Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) President of Bilawal Bhutto-Zze on Thursday said he has fought for the case of fair water distribution at global level and called on the international community to help protect the Indus River, Express News reported.
Bilawal said, “I have taken the battle for water distribution to the global scene. I have told the world that we need to save our river Indus.”
He added that the question of water theft of India has consistently been raised during his term of office as Foreign Minister. “India continues to steal our water, and I have taken on this challenge internationally,” he said.
In the reflective of the party’s legacy, Bilawal said: “We are all flag carriers from Shaheed Zulficar Ali Bhutto, and we’ve gathered here to pay tribute to him. President Asif Ali Zardari fulfilled his duty by pursuing a presidential reference that finally provided justice to Shaheed Bhutto.”
He added that People’s Court after five decades of battle has declared Bhutto innocent and justice has triumphed.
Bilawal, which highlighted PPP’s results during Zardari’s presidency, said the restoration of the 1973 Constitution reinstated the vision of Zulficar Ali Bhutto. “Through this amendment, Zardari returned the rights to the provinces and honored the legacy of Quaid-E-Awam,” he said.
He also noted that Bhutto was awarded to Nishan-E-Pakistan for his relentless struggle for the rights of the working class.
By touching the need for legal reform, the PPP chairman said that constitutional courts would ensure equal representation and that the political situation in the country has reached a critical point. He reiterated that PPP has always raised his voice against terrorism and will continue to do so.
