ISLAMABAD:
Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Chairman Bilawal Bhutto on Saturday called Balochistan National Party-Mengal (BNP-M) chief Akhtar Mengal and discussed the current political situation in the country.
According to details, both leaders agreed on a joint strategy for the next year’s fiscal budget.
They also exchanged views on the 18th constitutional amendment and government measures regarding the National Finance Commission (NFC) award.
“By criticizing the 18th constitutional amendment, Imran Khan is attacking the constitution,” Bilawal said.
They expressed concern over the growing number of Covid-19 patients in the country and considered the holding of the All Parties Conference next week.
Bilawal, Shehbaz rejects federal budget
“The PTI-IMF budget is anti-people. We cannot accept it,” the PPP chairman said.
“Due to the government’s incompetence, the coronavirus has spread everywhere,” he added.
Both leaders also decried the rise in oil price, noting that this was the time to provide maximum relief to the people.
A few days ago, Mengal announced his party’s withdrawal from its alliance with the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf-led federal government over its failure to implement agreements with the party.
Speaking during a session of the National Assembly, he said: “I am officially announcing that our party is ending its alliance with the PTI. We will stay in Parliament and continue to talk on issues.”
Mengal added that PTI had signed two agreements with the party at the time of government formation after the 2018 elections and later during the presidential elections, but not a single point of the agreement was implemented.
