Pakistan Peoples Party Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari on Wednesday praised Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s leadership and political direction, especially in navigating the country through a complex and uncertain regional environment amid escalating tensions in the Middle East.

The meeting came a day after the prime minister publicly offered Pakistan as a venue for US-Iran peace talks, an offer that received an extraordinary boost when President Donald Trump retweeted it on his Truth Social platform, a move widely seen in Islamabad as Washington’s tacit approval of Pakistan’s new role as a mediator.

According to a statement issued by the Prime Minister’s Office today, Prime Minister met Shehbaz Bilawal and his delegation where the Prime Minister emphasized Pakistan’s active diplomatic efforts for global peace.

Bilawal also expressed support for the government’s approach in dealing with potential risks arising from the ongoing conflict scenario.

During the meeting, Prime Minister Shehbaz Bilawal briefed on Pakistan’s ongoing diplomatic efforts in light of the evolving situation in the Gulf and emphasized Islamabad’s commitment to promoting stability, dialogue and conflict resolution on the international stage.

Prime Minister Shehbaz highlighted that Pakistan was actively engaged in tackling emerging regional challenges through a balanced strategy that integrates foreign policy, internal security preparedness and economic resilience. He stressed that protecting national interests while contributing to global peace remained a key priority for his government.

The two leaders also exchanged views on political developments and national issues of importance. Discussions included Pakistan’s internal and external security environment as well as the country’s preparedness to tackle potential challenges arising from escalating tensions in the Gulf region.
