Just when you thought he was out, Bill Belichick and Jordon Hudson pulled him back.
Retired NFL writer Peter King announced his retirement in 2024 after decades as a Spalstist for Sports Illustrated and Pro Football Talk as well as a reporter on “Football Night in America” at NBC. But Belichick’s book tour, which dominated the national conversation over the past week, brought him back in the media stay.

King was on Belichick’s disastrous Public Relations campaign in a podcast interview.
“This is a guy who owned every room he ever went into, and now he has a 24-year-old muse telling him what to do or try to control situations that she honestly has something to do with or should have anything to do with,” he said on “Sport Media with Richard Deitsch.” “Bill has to grab himself here. He has to get hold of this situation. This is embarrassing. It is absolutely embarrassing for a guy who is as big on his job as he is.”
King added that for Belichick to take an interview he did for CBS, he had to be a little more interesting and the opposite of the kind of media personality he was when he coached New England Patrots.
“Bill Belichick, to promote a book, goes on Sunday morning -no matter how long it was, says 10 minutes, but goes TV on Sunday morning with a sweatshirt on with a hole in it. Look at the video of it,” King continued. “He’s wearing a navy blue sweatshirt that has a hole in it … Why does TMZ have him out of the Ritz-Carlton Hotel, I think, in New York in a perfectly tailoring place.

“But generally, if you want to promote a book or you want to do interviews, you can’t be the hungry, uninterested person that Bill Belichick was at CBS. You just shouldn’t do it then. Why do it?”
King said anyone who saw the CBS interview may not be so eager to buy the book he promoted in the first place.
Belichick broke his silence on the debate on Wednesday, defended his girlfriend and accused CBS of creating a “false tale” with “selectively edited” clips.
“Unfortunately, this expectation was not honored during the interview. I was surprised when non -related topics were introduced, and I repeatedly expressed to the reporter, Tony Dokoupil, and the producers, whom I preferred to keep the conversation centered on the book,” the coach said.
“After this happened several times, Jordon, which I share both a personal and professional relationship, stepped in to repeat this point to help focus the discussion. She did not derive any specific question or topic, but merely did her job to make sure the interview remained on track. Flight to the Palm Beach in 2021.

“The last eight-minute segment does not reflect the productive 35-minute conversation we had, which covered a wide range of topics related to my career. Instead, the selectively edited clips and still images from just minutes of the interview to suggest a false narrative-to Jordon tried to control the conversation-simply is not true.”
CBS later responded with its own statement.
“When we agreed to talk to Mr. Belichick, it was for a broad interview,” the company said. “There were no prerequisites or limitations for this conversation. This was repeatedly confirmed with his publisher before the interview took place and after it was completed.”
