Bill filed in NA to criminalize the phone’s snaping, street robberies

Member of the National Assembly Khawaja Izharul Hassan from Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan (MQM-P) has submitted two regulatory bills in the National Assembly and sought changes to the Pakistan Citizenship Act and Pakistan Penal Code.

According to Express newsThe first bill, entitled The Pakistan Citizenship (Amendment) Bill 2025, suggested granting citizenship rights to individuals – or their parents – born in the former East Pakistan or those who migrated to Pakistan between 1971 and 1982 after the fall of Dhaka.

The bill noted, “The population of East Pakistan sacrificed for the country and migrated to West Pakistan after the fall of Dhaka. This law aims to secure their citizenship rights.”

The second bill proposed amendments to the Pakistan Penalty Code and the Code of Criminal Case to get the phone to snap and street robberies officially stricter offenses.

The proposed section 382-A outlines that individuals found guilty of such crimes can be arrested without a justification and may not be entitled to bail.

The bill emphasized the need to tackle the growing threat of street crime on public roads and in urban areas. It says legal changes are needed to strengthen law enforcement and ensure that the judiciary can take effective actions.
