Bills star Dion Dawkins says there should be a ‘Protector’ award for offensive line men

Buffalo Bill’s offensive tackling Dion Dawkins wants offensive line men to start getting some recognition.

While the offensive line men have been named the Pro Bowl and the All-Pro teams, there is currently not an offensive linen prize or anything similar.

“Offensive linemen do not have prices for being good. There is not a ‘Protector’ award of the year. I knock on so many doors now to get this award going. Finished before I finish playing,” Dawkins said During his press conference Thursday.

“Because there are so many big ones. So many great. We have amazing quarterbacks, we have great running backs, we have rushing titles, we have quarterback passing titles.

At college level, offensive line men are recognized with several different prices.

Lombardi Award is awarded the best college football of the year, Tight End or Linebacker. This season it was awarded to Texas Longhorn’s left tackle Kelvin Bank’s Jr.

Outland Trophy is given to the best inner liner both on the offensive and defensive side of the ball. Banks also won that award this season.

The only pricing -offensive liner has a realistic chance of winning is Walter Payton Man of the Year, a prize given for actions for the benefit of society, which is a price off the field.

Dawkins has spent all eight seasons of his career with Bills, which will be put to the test this weekend when Bills welcomes Kansas City Chiefs in the AFC Championship.

Dawkins, a four -time pro bowler, is tasked with stopping defensive star player Chris Jones, George Karlaftis, Leo Chenal and others who will try to pursue Josh Allen.

Bills and Chiefs will play at 6:30 pm one on Sunday.
